Snake Garden Wildlife Center

The tour of the Wildlife Center SNAKE GARDEN is a great place to learn about the amphibians and reptiles of Costa Rica and others places of the world. They offer a guided tour and a self-guideScreen shot 2015-01-01 at 2.01.29 PMd tour. During the self-guided tour, visitors can take their time to explore, though the average tour time is about ninety minutes. The guided tour lasts two hours, and customers have the option to stay on site after the tour to observe the animals for themselves. The tour takes place on walk ways where you will observe the animals in their enclosures. Also, you can observe the birds that frequent our property; the gardens were designed with plants that have fruit for the birds to eat throughout the year. The collection has an average number of 200 animals of 60 different species, in which you will see: butterflies, frogs, crocodiles and caimans, turtles, snakes, iguanas and more!

■ The snake garden is open from 9am to 5pm but they have a very flexible schedule, let us

know if you would like to reserve a guided visit for you or a visit outside of the established

schedule.

■ They also offer guided night tours, guided frog tours, half day and full day photography

sessions.

■ The price per person for the guided tours is $30 and for self guided $15. Family rates and

student rates are available, please inquire.

■ The snake garden is located about 5km from Chilamate, en route to the town of la Virgen,

next to the Nature Pavillion.

■ By car, it is about 5 minutes from the Retreat or it is an easy bus ride: take the bus at

Chilamate Elementary School and get off right in front of the Serpentario Snake Garden.

By taxi the price is around $20 round trip.
