5 star rating1 month at the Chilamate beach camp We stayed at the Beach Camp (in Playa Pelada) not the Rainforest Retreat. Stayed for a month in the converted school bus they have down there and loved it! Nice location close to the beach (5 mins to Pelada and 15 to the surf beach of Guiones), all the guys working there were super friendly and we had our own kitchen area and bathroom which got cleaned regularly, as well as fresh towels. There are bikes available to use which makes getting into town and shops really easy. Nice chilled atmosphere and a very friendly dog who came with us to the beach every day. Good wifi also. There are rooms and tents on offer as well as the bus. Would give an even higher rating if I could! Thanks guys 🙏

5 star ratingBeautiful and tranquil property with excellent service We loved our stay at Chilamate so much that we extended for another night. The property is calming and very relaxing, amongst the rainforest! We saw monkeys and an armadillo from the guest eating area! The accommodation is simple and clean (very livable!) and the breakfast was amazing. We had the best sleep we have had in years, falling asleep to the sounds of the rushing river and the animals! Thank you Chilamate!

5 star ratingAmazing authentic tours on offer and friendly staff Had an amazing few days here with my 4 yr old daughter. Due to some building work, we got upgraded to the fantastic family suite, which had a special little room where we could observe jungle life. Meghan and her team (especially Roger) were super friendly, and always available for any question or booking. We went on 2 of the many tours they offer - many of which are partnerships with local people - trying to give employment to the local community - the river tour and the organic farm tour. I would highly recommend the organic farm tour. My 4 yr old was kept entertained by playing with Daniel's grandson and holding all the little piglets. Amazing free breakfast and dinner was great too (though a little pricey) . Would highly recommend this place as the owners are so committed to the local community and they are exemplary when it comes to community based tourism.

5 star ratingloved this Eco lodge We spent two nights at Chialmate Rainforest Eco lodge, our first visit to Costa Rica.
the location was fantastic, rooms basic but what you expect in an Eco lodge.
Very close to nature and loved the walks into the rain forest so easy to access.
we saw, 3 & 2 toed sloth, white faced capuchin monkeys, silky anteater sleeping, blue jean frogs, green black dart frogs, lots birds, insects, army ants, leaf cutter ants, Basilisk lizards. variegated squirrels , also lots of fire flies at night, and morning and evening the call of howler monkeys was great to hear.
any tour expects you to wear closed toe shoes, this is the same all over Costa Rica, so make sure you have walking shoes or trainer at least.
We enjoyed swimming in the Sarapiqui river next to the bridge.
make sure you use infect relent in the day as well as night
Staff we very pleasant and Wilhelm guided walk in the forest was fantastic.
make time to visit the Nature Pavilion to see a fantastic variety of birds, the chocolate tour did not impress us very much.
USA dollars are excepted everywhere, even in local supermarkets.
when travelling home via San Jose airport beware, everything is very expensive, do not wait to buy coffee most good at least twice the price, and cost us £12 for a burger. More
